The Friends of Scissett Middle School

"The Friends" are a group of parents, grandparents, carers and staff who organise social and fundraising events during the school year.

Events in the past have raised monies for "extras" which the school's budget doesn't quite stretch to. These have included new curtains for the hall, furniture for the quiet garden, vertical roller blinds for classrooms with new interactive whiteboards and most recent video editing equipment and an electric piano.

Whilst raising funds, activities are also chosen as social events for families of Scissett Middle School pupils to enjoy.

We have organised family quiz nights, pupil discos, fashion shows, a celidh and pig roast - all of which have been well attended and thoroughly enjoyed.

The Friends are always looking for new ideas and new faces to help organise - if you feel you could offer help in any way please contact Mrs Pearson via the school office.

Recent Events
The family quiz night held on Friday, 12 October 2007 was an enjoyable test of wit, general knowledge and intelligence! "The Last Stand" beat "The Birdsedge Brainboxes" in a thrilling last round whilst the booby prize for last place was claimed by "Team Firthy".

Thanks to all who helped served on the bar and also to Mr Moriarty who was question master for the evening.

£100.62 was raised which will go towards the purchase of a plasma screen TV for use interactively by the special needs department at Scissett Middle School.

As well as events, the Friends also run an online fundraising store through which you can shop with major retailers such as Amazon, Boots, Littlewoods, ASDA (to name but a few) whilst supporting Scissett Middle School at the same time.

We also run the school's ink cartridge recycling scheme which raises money for the school whilst reducing the amount of plastic going into the country's landfill sites. Click here for more information.
